London Design Festival: Barber & Osgerby for Axor, or showers got their wings

Uczestniczyć w premierze projektu, spotkać jego autorów i cieszyć się wraz z nimi, posłuchać ich opowieści o procesie twórczym i tak dalej, i tak dalej… Miałam okazję tego doświadczyć, oczywiście w Londynie, czyli mieście gdzie zawsze, przearcy zawsze, przytrafia mi się coś cudownego. Szczególnie podczas London Design Festival. Tam właśnie patrzyłam, jak Axor One, czyli skrzydlata armatura, wyfruwa z gniazda w szeroki świat.

Being a guest at a project launch party, meeting the designers and being happy with them, listening to their stories about the „making of” and so on, so on… I had the opportunity to experience this kind of emotions in London of course for this is the city where always, I mean ALWAYS, something amazing happens to me. Particularly during the London Design Festival. And this was the place where I could see Axor One, the winged bathroom fitting, fly the nest.

Dobra wiadomość jest taka, że – niczym Sam z Casablanki – zagram to dla Was jeszcze raz. Sfilmowałam bowiem szefa marki Axor Philippe’a Grohe opowiadającego o firmie i projekcie oraz samych twórców, czyli Edwarda Barbera (ten wysoki) i Jay’a Osgerby’ego, którzy też zrobili niezłe show, ale i tak miałam dreszcze stojąc obok jednych z najlepszych współczesnych projektantów. OMG!!!

The good news is that – like Sam of Casablanca – I’m going to play it again for you. Namely, I recorded the head of the Axor brand Philippe Grohe telling stories about the firm and the project, and then the two designers – Edward Barber (the tall one) and Jay Osgerby – who made quite a good show as well, however I would be extatic anyway while standing next to one of the best contemporary designers. OMG!!!

O samym produkcie najwięcej i najdokładniej dowiecie się na stronie Axor One, ale powiem Wam tak: pomysł regulowania strumienia wody nadgarstkiem, łokciem, plecami, czymkolwiek, naprawdę bardzo mi się podoba. Chodzi mianowicie o naciskanie owych „skrzydełek” po bokach, dzięki czemu woda leci z wybranego źródła (góra, panel lub słuchawka) jak trzeba. Bez kręcenia, bez wysiłku, bez zastanowienia. Ważne szczególnie w stanach ogromnego zmęczenia, na przykład po imprezie (tfu, po balu w Operze Wiedeńskiej). Dodam, że środkowe pokrętło to termostat, dzięki czemu woda będzie spływać po skroniach zawsze w przyjaznej, wcześniej ustawionej temperaturze.

If you want to know all the product’s details, you can check the Axor One web site, but I’ll tell you this: I like the simplicity of choosing the water output with my wrist, my elbows or even my back if I really decide to do it. The thing is that all you have to do is pressing the „wings” on both sides of the fitting to make water run out of a chosen output (from above, from the wall or from the handset). Without turning the turncocks on and off, effortlessly, easy peasy lemon squeezy. It’s important for example when you come back home from a party (I mean from the Vienna Opera Ball, of course) and all you want from your life is to take a shower and lay down. Let me add that the middle knob is a thermostat, so you can be sure that water will run down your temples in a proper, preset warmth.

Ufff… Gorąco było w Londynie i broń Boże nie mówię o pogodzie, bo wciąż lało. Ale może ten prysznic z nieba to też sprawka Axor One i jednego ruchu łokciem? Kto wie…

Well… It’s was hot in London but I don’t mean the weather in any case for it was raining all the time. However, maybe the shower from the sky had been planned by Axor One and it took only one elbow move? Who knows…
