What is the table we’re going to style today? Well, to make a long story short, let me put it this way:

Wiosna, wiosna… Od razu więcej się chce, więcej działa, więcej myśli o zmianach. Twórczy był więc i Dzień Kobiet, z okazji którego w warszawskim showroomie House & more kto żyw i chętny brał udział w warsztatach stylizacji stołu prowadzonych – a jakże – przez kolektyw BlogGirls.

Spring, oh, spring… Here you are! At once the moods are up, the spirits are high!

Spring undoubtedly make people want more, be more active, crave more for changes. So the Women’s Day was creative as well in the Warsaw’s House and more showroom where BlogGirls (of course) held table styling workshops for all alive and kicking, i.e. interested in the matter.

Piękny stół: Kreatywność bez skrępowań

Był pot, nie było krwi i łez. Kobiety pracujące (które żadnej pracy się nie boją) opanowały teren. Niemniej jednak, towarzyszyło im kilku bardzo dzielnych panów.

There was sweat but no blood and tears. Women, profoundly involved in the project, took over the entire area. Nevertheless, they were accompanied by few very brave gentlemen.

Piękny stół: Od teorii do praktyki

Spotkanie rozpoczęło się od małego wykładu, który miałam przyjemność przedstawić, na temat stylów potem wykorzystanych przez nas do konkretnych działań. Tak więc, inspirację stanowiły: The Hamptons, belgijski industrial, amerykański glamour oraz paryski szyk. Kasia z kolei pokrótce opowiedziała, co i gdzie i dlaczego ma swoje miejsce na stole.

The meeting began with a short lecture (I had the pleasure to be the speaker) on styles we were to work on later. So, our focal points were: The Hamptons, the Belgian industrial, the American glamour and the Parisian chic. Then, Kasia gave us some hints on what and where and why should be put on the table.

Piękny stół: Wespół w zespół

Uczestnicy podzielili się na zespoły przygotowujące stoły w wybranych stylach. Ja i Kasia B. prowadziłyśmy grupę lubiącą The Hamptons oraz paryski szyk. Marta oraz Kasia G. zajęły się miłośniczkami belgijskiego industrialu oraz amerykańskiego glamouru. Ula zaś była wspólnym ogniwem, a ponadto zajmowała się konkursem na najładniejszą pisankę.

You should always listen to your guts, therefore we split into groups according to our preferences. Me and Kasia B. led the “The Hamptons” and “Parisian chic” teams, whereas Marta and Kasia G. took care of the “Belgian industrial” and “American glamour” lovers. Ula was a common link and a guardian of the Prettiest Easter Egg competition.

I przejdźmy do meritum, a raczej do brzegu, skoro zaczynamy w stylu The Hamptons.

The Hamptons to styl milionera nad oceanem. To relaks w kapitańskiej czapce na tarasie bielonego domu, świeżość wody rozpryskującej się na burcie jachtu oraz łopot żagli w pobliskiej marinie, który słychać zza okien restauracji. Niby marynistyczny, a jednak willowy. Ze starym człowiekiem i morzem oraz Moby Dickiem łączy go tylko półka w gabinetowej biblioteczce.

Let’s get to the bottom of the today’s matter, i.e. let’s see the sea of The Hamptons table styling.

The Hamptons is a style of a millionaire at the ocean, wearing a captain’s cap and relaxing on a terrace of a house painted white. It’s like the freshness of water splashing on a yacht’s boardside. It’s like the sound of windblown sails in a marina, which you can hear from behind restaurant’s windows. Nautical, yet luxuriously overland. Related to „The Old Man and the Sea” or „Moby Dick” only by books in the private office’s library.

Belgijski industrial to cała paleta szarości i kremów. Czarny metal, kamienne ozdoby oraz lniane obrusy i stare drewno na sufitach, podłogach i meblach. Oszczędność, surowość oraz elegancja; jak najlepsza gorzka czekolada.

The Belgian industrial style stands for the wide range of grays and off-whites; black metal elements, stone decorations, linen table cloths and old wood on ceilings, floors or furniture. It’s moderate, raw, yet elegant; like the best dark chocolate.

Piękny stół: Amerykański glamour

Amerykański glamour to wnuk Starego Hollywood. Jest nowoczesny, ale bogaty. Jasny i lśniący, złoty i kryształowy, wygodny i przestronny. Promieniste lustra i świeże kwiaty. To projekcja „Bulwaru Zachodzącego Słońca”, gdzie słońce jednak nigdy nie zachodzi. Norma Desmond zrzuciła sobole oraz brokaty i założyła ulubione dżinsy, ale nigdy nie utraciła zamiłowania do luksusu.

The American glamour is a grandchild of the Old Hollywood style. It’s modern, yet rich; bright and shining, golden and crystal, comfortable and spacious. Sun shaped mirrors and freshly cut flowers. It’s like „The Sunset Boulevard” where the Sun never goes down. Norma Desmond took her fur coat and glitter dress off and put her favourite jeans on, though she never gave up on her love for luxury.

Piękny stół: Styl paryski

Paryski szyk to stara arystokracja w nowej rzeczywistości.  To lekko przykurzone kotary i koronki, klasyczne sztukaterie i empirowe dodatki. To styl delikatny i szlachetny niczym nuta perfum unosząca się w pokoju, gdzie przed chwilą siedziały kobiety ubrane z zamierzoną, elegancką nonszalancją. Na filiżankach jeszcze widać ślad czerwonej szminki.

Nie zapominajmy o paryskiej operze, która karmi się plotką. Jej symbolem niech będą teatralne lorgnon na talerzach, gotowe do podania.

The Parisian chic is like the old aristocracy in a new reality. It’s like curtains and laces slightly covered with dust; like ornaments from plasters of Paris, like Empire decorations. The style is delicate and noble like the passing smell of perfumes in the room where just a while ago women, clad with the elegant nonchalance, were sitting and chatting. You can even see a red lipstick trace on the coffee cups. 

Don’t forget the Opera of Paris, living and fed with gossips. Let the theatrical lorgnon be its symbol, ready to be served.
